Please apply to a small test patch of your skin and wait 10 minutes before applying in larger amounts.

Do not operate heavy machinery while using this balm.

This balm is hand made by me, all of the herbs are grown, picked and processed every season, each batch may vary due to the strength and the availability of each botanical. Results may vary from batch to batch.

History: Historical evidence of the use of Witches ointment has been recorded in Italian Witchcraft dating back to the 1200’s, but some say goes back even further than that; as fat infused with baneful herbs have been found reaching far back into ancient history.

Folklore: It is said in folklore that Witches would infuse the fat of unbaptised children or animals such as pigs or geese, with infused nighshades and entheogenic herbs and soot, then smear it onto the mucosal membranes of the body to take flight into astral and spirit realms, for necromancy, shamanic ritual, perform shadow work and for deep meditation.

Ordinary Folk believe that witches would use the ointment, fly on their broomsticks, disappear up the chimney, shapeshift into nocturnal animals to meet, dance and perform sexual acts with the devil or the Green man at witches sabbaths.

These tall tales of diabolical witchcraft were metaphorical, but not that far from the truth - Nosey folk of the villages would peep into the homes and ritual places of the village witches and watch as they would rub or smack their skin in their areas where the mucous membranes are the thinnest (I’ll let you guess where that is) - opening the pores and exciting the area for maximum absorption - and then would apply the balms onto the sticks of their brooms and ride/writhe on them vigorously with what looked like an orgy of ecstasy! Some would act like wild animals and dance themselves into a trance, then collapsing into a deep sleep.

Effects: The effect of nightshades/solanacae herbs is similar to the feeling of flying, or falling, you may experience sleepiness, colour and light may become brighter, you many experience auditory, occular and hallucinatory effects which may last up to a few hours.

Preparation: If planning to use this balm in ritual for spirit flight : Avoid caffeine, nicotine, fatty foods and meat for twenty-four hours prior to using the ointment. Caffeine and nicotine can inhibit the effects of tropane alkaloids. Greasy foods high in fat also prevent the absorption of tropane alkaloids. Fasting for twenty-four hours before hand is beneficial and intensifies the effects. Some witches will fast and partake in plant dieta prior to ritual application of the ointment. A dieta consists of taking micro-doses of the entheogen to form a connection with its spirit. This can begin 7-10 days before the ritual, accompanied by fasting and abstinence from sex and alcohol.

The process of applying this ointment should be prepared in a ritualistic way, it is of utmost importance to have reverence and respect, to treat it as a ceremony, to pray or meditate, verbalise your intention before application, along with chanting and drumming will add to the experience of this.

Application: Apply to the pulse points, soles of the feet, palms of hands, temples, forehead and/or back of the neck. The pulse points are close to major arteries and the palms and soles of the feet are porous, which enhance absorption.

Again, I will mention : Applied to the mucous membranes it can assist in astral projection, lucid dreaming, necromancy, spirit flight. ;) You may wish to rub or smack the skin in their areas where the mucous membranes are the thinnest (I’ll let you guess where that is) - opening the pores and exciting the area for maximum absorption.

It may also be painted on in a ritualistic fashion using sigils, runes and sacred markings.

To be used ritually flying ointments must be treated with respect, use a small amount on your wrist at first, then build up over time. Many of the nightshade plants can be toxic when ingested and should not be taken internally under any circumstances. It is important that you know what plants you are working with, and any interactions they may have with medications you are taking, as well as any other contraindications including but not limited to pregnancy, heart conditions etc. NEVER drive while under the influence.

Witches flying ointment is a very popular tool for poison path practitioners and is not for the faint hearted. If you haven’t experienced altered states of consciousness before, please proceed with caution.

Not to be used by pregnant or breastfeeding women or women wishing to be pregnant, please research thujone before using. Test a small area on your wrist first to see if you have any reactions.
